The University of Central Oklahoma has partnered with the Oklahoma Golf Association to create a new scholarship for students participating in the PGA Golf Management Program.

“Receiving a college education is a key aspect to succeed in life,” said Mark Felder, executive director of the Oklahoma Golf Association.

“Having the opportunity to help students succeed in their scholastic goals makes us proud of our association with the PGA Golf Management program at UCO.”

To qualify for the scholarship, the student must be pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree in Management-PGA Golf Management. Two scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $1,000 each.

“We are thrilled to be given the opportunity to partner with the Oklahoma Golf Association. To know we have their support is a great honor,” Director of UCO PGA Golf Management, Bob Phelps said.

“This endeavor will only help the PGA Program to continue to grow. Being able to provide financial support through our partnership with the association, is a wonderful opportunity for our students.”

The scholarships will be awarded for the first time this fall.

UCO’s PGA Golf Management Program is one of only 20 programs accredited by the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) of America. The program gives students the opportunity to gain skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the golf industry. Students are not only involved in classroom curriculum; they receive first-hand experience with internships, student associations and a player development program. UCO’s goal is to produce students who meet the qualifications to be a PGA member.
