Dr. Hepner worked as a software developer, consultant, and PMP certified project manager for 10 years in industry before becoming a professor at UCO. Dr. Hepner has taught Management Information Systems, Information Systems Management (the senior capstone course), IT Security & Risk Management, Managing & Troubleshooting Networks, and software development in Visual Basic & C#. Her research interests include risk analysis and security of information systems; data warehousing, mining, and analysis; and the promotion of undergraduate research. She is on the advisory board of the Oklahoma Journal of Undergraduate Research.
